Sue Kay began working with Benjamin Moore in 1980 and specialized her business in colour when partnering with Allandale Decorating Centre in 1995. The popularity of Sue’s in home service led to the development of Sue Kay colours in 2001, Sue Kay Wall and Sue Kay Trim paint in 2005 as well as Sue Kay’s Java Bark in 2009. Sue is a multiple winner of Barrie’s Readers Choice and Best of Barrie Awards for Favourite Interior Decorator. Sue Kay has hosted a 13 episode television show as well as made numerous appearance on HGTV and was featured on Daytime Television A Day in the Life.
In her spare time, Sue relaxes by creating art. Her commissioned oil and acrylic paintings are often custom coloured to match the homeowner’s palette. Sue has donated hundreds of limited edition printed of her work to charities throughout Simcoe Country. To date, Sue’s Wine and Design Seminars and printed have raised over $50,000 for the Royal Victoria Hospital and other charities.

Paint runs through Larry's veins.
Larry and his brother worked in the paint industry, helping out as kids in their family paint store.
After many years with CIL Paints and Color Your World, Larry became the Benjamin Moore territory manager for Central Ontario. In 1995 he acquired Benjamin Moore's Allandale Decorating Centre in Barrie.
He and local artist and colour consultant, Sue Kay had a shared vision to build " The perfect paint store" by offering free expert colour advice to walk-in consumers 7 days per week. Paint sales and colour consultations took off immediately.
Today, Sue Kay Designs has completed over 10,000 in-home colour consultations to lead all Benjamin Moore stores in Canada. The blended companies of Sue Kay Designs and Allandale Decorating Centre now operate as Colournow, where , on-line, in-home or in-store, every customer is served by a colour and design expert hand-picked by Sue Kay.

A title unique to Colournow as are their skills. Our visioneers are foresee”ers” of colour and space! They have the ability and imagination to understand how colour will affect a space thus manipulating the perception of the feeling in an area. They have an intuitive sense and great listening skills to ensure they are properly delivering the overall experience; be it your home, office or an exterior. They will answer any decorating question whether it’s the colour of tile, drapery, or yes of course paint colour.
They are graduates and scholarship winners of Georgian College and have apprenticed for 2 years with Sue Kay's colour applications pre-requisite for in-home consultations. During this apprenticeship, our award winning decorator's learn application of colour theories and how colour and paint affect emotional responses, light, space, durability, functionality and trends.
Trends are a large part of a visioneers training and learning how to apply a current trend to rejuvenate a space is key, especially if ther are fixed elements.

What I love about design: Design allows one to express themselves through the use of their space. The needs and wants of an individual develops a space to be unique to that one specific personality. Creating a harmonious space that reflects an individual is one of the best feelings in design.
