It's important to look to the rest of the world for design inspiration as it offers a real interesting cultural influence. However right here in Canada and just a little south to Toronto there are tons of gorgeous interior spaces to visit and get inspiration from.

My favourite interior is Cluney Bistro & Boulangerie in the Distillery District downtown Toronto. It was designed by Munge Leung and I think it brings an amazing Parisian flare to the city.

With Spring just arriving and the chance of warmer days on the horizon it's time to start getting ready to spruce up the home inside and out. Often times Spring is when our exterior looks the dullest after the beating it took from winter and we want to get it back into tip top shape. That is why today is all about refreshing the facade of your house and giving it that much needed Spring curb appeal.

I love this room that uses a colour so unique as cornflower blue, it is a gorgeous mix of blue and violet that makes for a feminine, bright space.

To get a colour like this use Benjamin Moore's Blue Viola 1424.

This gorgeous image of a Parisian apartment really speaks for itself, with extravagant mouldings in a crisp modern white, paired with diamond oak floors it leaves for a stunning space. It is the perfect combination of old and new so today I thought we would have a Parisian design appreciation post.

Curtained in a Romo velvet, the light-filled entrance hall of an American couple's Paris home was renovated and decorated by Jean-Louis Deniot.:

This gorgeous bedroom features an amazing focal point that cost little money, and little effort but it really makes a statement. That is the stripe headboard detail that extends across the room. It uses amazing colours(see below) as well is such a simple thing to do add some drama to a space.

Lacquer is a finish that can be clear or coloured and makes for a hard durable surface. As well it can come in ultra matte finishes all the way up to high gloss. I personally love a high gloss lacquer finish as it makes everything look more expensive as well adds a bit of shine. Today we are going to be looking at doors finished in high gloss lacquer finish and you will for sure be running to the store to grab some for your house.

A crisp black entry way is sure to add some drama and curb...

When you hear the word stencil, you think of the dreaded grape vine border around the top of the wall or dusty rose flowers on the old cabinet. However those are a thing of the past, there are hundreds of modern stencils to choose from now-a-days that can really add interest to a diy.

Try putting them in unusual spots like the stair tread, you can mix and match patterns and colours for a unique look. This is a great option for basement stairs because then you don't have to invest in a carpet...
